About Nevada:
Nevada, the Silver State,
welcomes new residents with its state song, "Home
Means Nevada." And what a new home it is!
This seventh largest state in area is the nation's
driest state, the fastest growing state according
to the U.S. Census Bureau, and the most urban state
with over 80% of its population living in the Las
Vegas and Reno metropolitan areas.
What makes Nevada so very attractive? The most obvious
answer is the neon-lit mecca of entertainment---Las
Vegas. Which is your pleasure? Gondola rides? Erupting
volcanoes? Sinking pirate ships? The world's largest
hotel? An Eiffel Tower replica? All of these and
so much more is available in this city often referred
to as one giant theme park. Las Vegas never closes
down. The entertainment is spectacular with fabulous
shows, nationally renowned entertainers, the nation's
finest eateries, along with the Old West's downtown
Fremont Experience-the neon extravaganza. There
are more shrimp consumed in one day than in the
whole rest of the country. Whether you view the
Fountains at Bellagio, the Imperial Palace Automoile
Museum, the MGM Grand Adventures Theme Park, the
streets of New York New York, Circus Circus's Adventuredome,
or the Liberace Museum, you are in for a real treat!
Shopping is exquisite at the Desert Passage at the
Aladdin, the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, the
Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, and elsewhere.
Be sure to catch the shows at the Stratosphere,
Riviera, and Imperial Palace-each provides a fun
night of entertainment with female impersonators.
What a trip!
But Nevada is so much more than Las Vegas. First,
this sunny state enjoys mild winters with an average
daily temperature of about 60 degrees. It is home
to two mountain ranges, the Sierra Nevada range
and the Rocky Mountains along with the Sonoran and
Mojave deserts. For those enjoying backpacking,
rock climbing, camping, and related outdoor activities
these mountainous areas beckon you. You may boat,
water ski, and fish in the Lake Mead National Recreation
Area near Las Vegas. The Hoover Dam is only 40 miles
from Las Vegas. There you can tour the damn and
hear of its miraculous construction.
In northern Nevada visit the Virgin Valley which
is the only North American place where the Black
Fire Opal is found in large quantities. Trek the
Wilson Canyon near Yerington or Overton's Valley
of Fire State Park The Silver Sate provides manifold
opportunities for the adventurous also. Take your
pick: sandboarding, off-roading, water sports, climbing,
biking and hiking. Nevada's backcountry encourages
snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. You
can even heli-ski in the Ruby Mountains. Ice fishing,
hunting and just plain fishing are available for
one and all. Take your 4x4 off-road for hundreds
of miles blazing your very own trail. Sandboard
through the Sand Mountains and Amargosa Valley commanding
the dunes. Run the rapids with whitewater rafting,
open-water paddling, or canoeing. Nevada's shores
promote scuba-diving. These challenges await each
one of you!
If you are ready for Nevada, it is ready for you!
Ten luxury casino hotels may attract you southward
towards Laughlin. In the same vicinity is Boulder
City-the nation's first planned community. Mining,
outdoor recreation and ranching are leading industries
in the northeastern Nevada city of Elko. Nevada
comes from Spanish and means snow-capped. Travel
to Reno or beautiful Lake Tahoe where you can enjoy
winter activities---skiing, snowboarding, hiking,
etc. Nevada offers you splendid opportunities and
it is one of the few states with no state income
tax!
Do not just visit Nevada, live in Nevada for an
exceptional lifestyle! |
