I moved to Seattle from a conservative mid west city. I found Seattle to be wonderfully progressive, as evidenced by the gay friendly laws that exist; and the positive hiring practices and benefits offered to everyone including members of the gay and lesbian community by some of the major employers. e.g. Boeing, Microsoft.
