North Carolina
Want coastline? Want sunshine?
Want foothills and mountains? Then North Carolina should be your
new home! The beach attracts all. Skiing, snowboarding, biking
and hiking are available too. What more could one ask for?
The state provides mountains for one and all in the western portion.
There, Mount Mitchell is nearly 7000 feet making it the tallest
mountain in the eastern part of the Appalachian range. The Great
Smoky Mountains attract residents from throughout the State and
country. Talk about majestic scenery? Breathtaking to say the
very least! This mountain range is mostly covered with hardwood
forests providing panoramic vistas and hues throughout the fall
months. But in the winter over 30 inches of snow accumulates which
makes any winter sport you enjoy a unexpected thrill.
The foothills of the heartland provide a home to Charlotte and
Raleigh, major industry and home to such world famous universities
as Duke and University of North Carolina--each ranked among the
very best in the country. This area attracts many due to its temperate
climate, golf courses, opportunities to enjoy top-notch entertainment
along with historic sites.
The Vanderbilt Mansion is an attraction which beckons all as this
esteemed American family was enchanted with the state as you will
be. But it's the Atlantic coastline's warm breezes of the Gulf
Stream which serve as your siren call. The ocean roars against
the pristine beaches for which North Carolina is noted. Wildlife
in the wetlands attract the sportsmen here, and the 130 mile long
Outer Banks chain of islands with their 900 square miles of water
give new meaning to the expression "sun and surf." Hugging the
coastline are gigantic sand dunes.
It is no wonder the very first colonial New World settlement was
in North Carolina on Roanoke Island-settlers were seduced by North
Carolina's stupendous beauty! And you will be also...Here the
average annual temperature is over 60 degrees-that's hard to believe.
There is so much more to enjoy. For instance, Kitty Hawk fathered
the first human flight by the Wright Brothers in 1903, and many
come to Cape Hatteras to observe the East Coast's tallest lighthouse.
And there are many, many more.
So, whether it is the delectable seafood, glorious pink, white
or red flowering Dogwood, or the grape cultivation supporting
North Carolina's 21 wineries, you have found an ideal home!
Warning: do not invite friends to visit you. They, like you, will
not leave your new Paradise.
Charlotte
Charlotte, with Douglas International Airport, is the gateway
to the Carolinas. You'll find that Charlotte's easygoing lifestyle
is hard to resist. Located in the Piedmont Region of the Carolinas,
Charlotte has the Appalachian Mountains 2 hours west and the Atlantic
Ocean only 3 hours east.
And once you get here, you'll find plenty of arts & entertainment.
Charlotte has major sports teams like the NBA's Hornets and the
NFL's Carolina Panthers. Carolina weather is perfect for playing
golf or spending the day enjoying outdoor destinations.
Raleigh
Raleigh is one of the fastest growing areas in the country as
well as the capital city of North Carolina. Raleigh attracts people
to the Triangle area with it's top universities and outstanding
entertainment and recreational facilities. Best of all, the mild
climate makes Raleigh a great place to live.
